Quadratic equations

The app brings a quadratic equation to the form ax² + bx + c = 0 and solves it with the discriminant and the quadratic formula; it also recognizes a double root. If the equation has no real solution, it says so, and the “Show Complex Solution” button shows the complex roots.

Examples

Two real roots.
Input: x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0
x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0
x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0
A negative discriminant – complex roots.
Input: x^2 + 2x + 5 = 0 Show Complex Solution
x^2 + 2x + 5 = 0
x^2 + 2x + 5 = 0x^2 + 2x + 5 = 0
