Linear equations and inequalities

The app rearranges a linear equation the way it is done at school – it expands the brackets, moves the unknown to one side and divides. For an inequality it watches for the sign flip when multiplying by a negative number and writes the result as an interval; the graph shows both sides as lines and marks the solution on the x-axis.

Examples

An equation with brackets.
Input: 3(x - 2) = 2x + 5
3(x - 2) = 2x + 5
3(x - 2) = 2x + 53(x - 2) = 2x + 5
An inequality – dividing by a negative number flips the sign.
Input: 2x - 3 < 5x + 6
2x - 3 < 5x + 6
2x - 3 < 5x + 62x - 3 < 5x + 6
