Higher-degree equations

The app turns a biquadratic equation into a quadratic one by substitution. A general higher-degree equation is factored with synthetic division (Horner's scheme): roots are looked for among the divisors of the constant term and each root found is divided out until a quadratic equation is left.

Examples

A biquadratic equation by the substitution y = x².
Input: x^4 - 5x^2 + 4 = 0
x^4 - 5x^2 + 4 = 0
x^4 - 5x^2 + 4 = 0x^4 - 5x^2 + 4 = 0
Synthetic division – roots among the divisors of the constant term.
Input: x^3 - 6x^2 + 11x - 6 = 0
x^3 - 6x^2 + 11x - 6 = 0
x^3 - 6x^2 + 11x - 6 = 0x^3 - 6x^2 + 11x - 6 = 0
